Our hard work on our PROTOS submissions paid off Saturday night, when HKA snagged two first-place honors at the 1920s-themed “Roaring PR” PROTOS ceremony presented by the Orange County Public Relations Society of America (OCPRSA), at the OC Pavilion in Santa Ana. Our wins were for best press kit for Wonderland Bakery (submitted by yours truly — a first!), and for best article pitched for myLACYS (congrats, Emily!). It is so exciting to win these for our clients.
Of course, Team HKA dressed to the theme in our feather boas, and Robyn even wore a flapper dress and pearls.
Winning is a wonderful feeling, of course, but it’s even better when it’s all because of a group effort — and I had a blast spending the evening schmoozing, dining and drinking with my teammates.
In fact, that’s one of the things I personally love about working at HKA: the camaraderie. Sure, there are only three names among the two plaques, but these awards are shared by the entire team and would not have been won had it not been for the long brainstorm sessions, meticulous proofreading, hole-punching and papercuts each one of us endured.
So thanks to all! And let’s look forward to submitting more award-winning entries for PROTOS 2009!

Inez, I know I’m biased, BUT, I do have to point out that HKA has the best-looking and smartest team in the biz here in OC! You guys rock — kudos to you and to each of our team members for their roles in our PROTOS wins this year and for ALL of our tremendous client campaigns and projects that were not even entered this year.

Watching you invest hours and hours for your Protos submission along with the strong work ethic I see you exert everyday, you deserved that award and much more! I loved your blog about the comraderie as that is the spirit I appreciate most about being a part of the HKA team. I appreciate the open arms in which you and all of the others have embraced me as I jumped in to the PR world with both feet first. I celebrated with you when they called your name at PROTOS and felt like you were up there representing all of us. You’re the best!

I’m so proud of you! No one understands better than me how much you deserve this! And of course, Emily is deserving as well, but we already knew that!!!
I miss you all so much! You’re right, there’s nothing like the camaraderie at that little house on Yorba. HKA will always be a part of my heart.
